The movie Dances with Wolves main genre is western, it’s a western genre because it deals with Indians, and usually with western movies the main plot is fighting for land or man vs man, and horses/animals. The music in Dances with Wolves is usually dramatic, especially with the part where Dances with Wolves is dancing around the fire and chanting. There is also a scene when Dances with Wolves is going to leave the Indians and while he is leaving, sad slow music starts up. Another scene is some kind of happy tune while Dances with Wolves is getting married and time passes by throughout winter . The acting really impressed me, Stands with a Fist, her pretending she didn’t know English very well, it had me fooled. The music was really intriguing also, it dealt a lot with emotion also, and the directing was amazing, everything about the movie, I liked it a lot. My overall take on the film on a scale 1-10 I’d give it a 8 it was really good, actors were good, plot was good but original.
In Chariots of Fire, the acting was okay, personally I didn’t like the main character and he ran, it was kind of goofy too me.  The five points covered in class, it was pretty good, I’m not sure if the main character was popular in Hollywood at the time, but that’s probably why they used some budget on some nobody. The music in Chariots of Fire was really good; it made me feel the feeling it was supposed to do to the audience. It was really beautiful music, and it was perfect in the moments of the movie. The editing would use a L Cut, you could hear the music at the beginning of one scene, and it would transition from another scene, but you could still hear the music, and it matched the circumstances.  The theme of the movie is just to prove their selves. One man is devoted to God, and another man is Jewish. The camera movement throughout the movie would me a wide shot, and you would just watch them run around. I have no idea why this movie won the Oscar for best picture in 1981, because I thought this was the most boring movie ever. I mean I love running, I love sports, but this movie was really confusing, and I had no idea what was actually going on the whole time. I didn’t even know who the main character was.

The diegetic sounds in Rocky are a lot. Diegetic sound is what you hear on the screen and can see them.  One of them is when Rocky is hitting a piece of meat, and you can see him hitting the meat and the sound of meat getting beat. Other sounds are when Creed and Rocky are in the ring and hitting each other and you can hear them hitting each other. Non-diegetic sounds are sounds playing in the background but you can’t see them on the screen. Some examples is when you hear the crowd booing and cheering while rocky is in the ring. Another one is when you can hear the train on the tracks while rocky is on the streets. Also when Rocky was in the locker room you can hear other people boxing and jump roping. The theme of the film is never giving up. The film was well received in 1975-1976 because they made an amazing movie that made Sylvester Stallone famous. Some save the cat moments are when Rocky makes the young girl go home instead of smoking and getting in trouble. Another is when Rocky is nice to Aiden after her brother was being so rude to her, and when Rocky credits his friend on T.V.

Waking Ned Devine

The style of editing in the movie was continuous. The very first major point in the Waking Ned Devine was when Jackie found Ned dead in his home, with the lottery ticket winner. The mid-point is when Michael pretended to be Ned I believe. Also the climax is at the very end when they cash in the check and everybody is partying. Music was used everywhere, in the very beginning it played some happy music thinking that Jackie was going to win the lottery, but it fooled us and he didn’t win. At the very end when everybody is in the pub and there are violins and the music keeps intensifying and then the witch gets hit while she’s in the phone booth. Parallel storytelling is with the witch and also when Michael is naked on the scooter while Jackie is with the guy in the car asking for Ned.

The Godfather
In the Godfather the use of color varies, at one point their is somebody in a gold room, and that represents wealth. Also when their is a wedding, everybody is dressed in white like normal. Also when they are in the godfathers dark room, everything is dark including the actors and the lighting is dark as well. The shots were framed in the rule of thirds, especially at one point when they are fighting in the street and the other guy that is getting beat to death is on the left side at the very end which is fear on that left side. An extreme close up appeared when Michael was in the bar and getting mad at the gentleman and when he killed them. I think what made the film so important and successful, is that it has you root for the bad guys, and it shows that even bad people can be good people with good purposes. The external goal is the godfather helping other people who are in need, and i think another external goal is when Michael kills those two guys in the bar. The internal goal is dealing with the godfathers sons with their wives i believe, because they would have a lot of conflicts with their wives. I think their may be a lot of themes, but I would think that the theme is power, whether it be the Godfather or the police. The theme could also be to help others.

Amadeus

Intro To Film
Amadeus
The wardrobe in Amadeus was very spot on. It felt like it was taking place in 1984 and the masks’ that they used were as if it were in the past. Especially the wigs that everybody wore in the movie, and the color pallet in Amadeus made us feel what the color was supposed to make us feel. For example when Mozart died and everybody was in black representing death and the color white when Mozart was getting married. Especially the color red meaning power and you saw that throughout the movie, lots of different people were in charge. The make up on the actors was good, I guess back in the past it was trying to tell us that a lot of women used a ton of makeup. The locations also made me feel as if I were there, it had a English look to the movie, for examples the buildings, but the lighting indoors  made it feel tense, and made you think something terrible was going to go on.  The production design aided verisimilitude very well, again I felt as if I were 1984 with the costumes and the setting. The production designed added to the story big time, for example the old guy in the wheelchair with his jacked up teeth, and the crazy people and different kind of cages. I felt what we learn from 1984 is that people cared about money and fame. They cared about music big time, including Mozart, and some people were jealous of him. I think the theme of Amadeus is you have a different set of talents from god and that you have something special and other people do as well, and you have to accept that. Don’t wish to be somebody else, but  just be you. The explicit meaning is that Antonio Salieri is jealous of Mozart and wants to ruin everything for him.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

I think this film was a big hit in 1967 because it had characters who were enjoyable to watch. I think that the implicit meaning of the movie was that you can never run away from your mistakes or troubles. The film used the montage correctly because they were going everywhere and enjoying themselves, and then they went to someplace that wasn't so great, but still found a way get their groove back and learned Spanish. This film won the Oscar because it was historical and had actors that were so likable that you didn't want them to die. A Anti Hero is a character who doesn't posses heroic attributes. The filmmakers make us root for these villains because they are funny and good looking. This film personally says too me is that the villain can be a crowd favorite. What genre of film is this? its a western film because of gun fights and the saloon type of place. If this film were released today it wouldn't get a lot of attention due to the graphics, but if it were a re-make I think it would be pretty cool too watch and see how far technology has gotten us.
